HDB housing and CPF

Recently there's a news on Housing, whereby condominium become very very hot. You can see alot of people lining up as the recession is finally bottoming up and people are interested to invest. I have 2 friends also going to contemplating of buying houses. They calculate finances and how much loan that they could afford, besides that if eg. 1 of the spouse is not working how many months of cash flow they would need to fork out. They think far ahead which is good as you never know is this kind of economy. It makes sense to plan and have a backup plan. Nobody knows for sure.

It also make good sense to take advantage of the govenment subsidy rate for first time home owners, can get up to 40k of grant upfront for staying near parents. Check out www.hdb.gov.sg for more information. It also contain information of how much loan that you are eligible to afford, how many years of repayment scheme you want to look at.

Another website of good source of information is www.cpf.gov.sg. As almost everybody knows the money in the ordinary is used for housing / school fees / insurance / stocks. The cpf website give some reference to will be home owners on the affordability. The retirement plans and tips on how to increase your retirement savings. 1 good point they mention is you can transfer your ordinary a/c to your special a/c to enjoy higher percentage on the savings taking int o consideration the you won't be needing the money for housing. On the downside you have to wait till 62 years old to slowly withdraw the money inside the Special A/C. For people that are in no need of the ordinary a/c. it makes perfect sense to transfer it to special to enjoy the 4% rates instead of the 2.5% rate. Of course this depend on each individual and needs.

Actually it doesn't matter, cause i also met him yesterday evening for barbecue.

Plaza Singapura

Ever think of writing a story? www.mutb.com.sg introduces a very basic concept for aspiring writers. Seeing that I also aspire to be an author, sometimes i contemplate of writing my life story and publish it out. It will be a very unique story of mine, how i grow up and what challenges that i face in my life for 32 years. The issues that i face in this modern society of Singapore. Come to think of it though, how many people would want to purchase my biography. Maybe my loves ones :) Have anyone thought of writing their own biograghy ? I believe it helps to identify the important milestones that have impact your life. Just a few days i was going through my journal, (this journal was written very long long time ago) , That time i believe strongly in innocence of love. Till today i still believe. Yeah i guess an idea is spinning in my head now. How i could help adults or people to write about their biography. Maybe i should start something like that. This book would be very personnel and would really show a history to their offsprings or people who want to know what kind of person he/she is. I believe everyone should write about it. Make it like a trend. It could be title 'Growing up in Singapore (version of James Lew Wenwan)'

Life and Death pass in a instance

Recently i went to my friend's DAD furneral. It was just 2 days ago. I took a half day leave and went to pay him a visit as well as to catch up with old times. Talking to him brought back fond memories of me and him in my ex-company. We through hell and grown stronger and more resilent. Thinking back it was a quite an enriching experience.

As i offered the joss sticks to my friend's DAD, thoughts just flown through me like a stream of river non-stop.

Life and Death, it is really just an instance. When i was young and healthy, i really don't give much thought of my health. It was only through one of the instance back when i was still in the army. That time i got 2 tickets to go sentosa to play the water sports games and i ask my friend along. I told him that i couldn't really swim (i tried to but couldn't really cross the hurdle but 1 of these days i will definitely learn it). We were trying all sorts of water sports gamess. There was this hanging on to a tripeze and when the person will push you and you just hang on and glide through the air till you reach the end and you jump off. It was fun when i saw my friend doing it and i thought maybe 2m+ i won't drown and i want to try it. Believe me when i jump and landed into the pool, wow wow wow, it is really really deep, i guess is about 3m. I was struggling and struggling in the pool and the oxygen is getting less and less and less. I was like is this it, is this how am i going to die? So many thoughts went into my mind at that instance. There were so many things that i still need to do :), i should not just give up. At that point, i guess someone answered my thoughts, a lifeguard appear out of now where and saved me with a vest.

Just to let you all know, it was a tremendous relief to me. I was like wow i am getting a new lease of life.

These thoughts came back. Do cherish the ones that you love, you never know. Do the things that you always longed to do be it like relationship, hobby, craft, entreprener. Just DO IT "NIKE"

Handicraft works

Check out the Handi craft work that is done by my friend. She is good in making these handy crafts. You can see the angle beautifully crafted and is not very expensive. If anyone wants to order, do send me a email to enquire about it. I will get back to you on that. As this is hand craft, it will take some time. She told me it takes about 1-2 weeks to complete.
This is like a small retail business where you have zero start up cost ans just beautiful handi crafts to sell. Maybe i could also encourage to list in ebay.

Toys Toys

Check this out. These Toys shops are located at the top floor of Plaza Singapura. In case you don't know where it is. Plaza Singapura is situated near Dobby Ghaut Mrt. One of the Toy shop also encourage people to place their shops and sell to people. Inside these shops, there are a wide range of figurines, toys, collectibles that might interest you. I personally like Doraemon. When i was young, i read a lot of 'xiao ding dang' (Chinese comic). The comic is about a guy (nerdy : that time is anybody who wear specs are nerdy) who has a toy who is doremon ('Xiao Ding Dang') Doremon is a 21st Century toy that came from the future. He help 'dao Xiong' (the male lead comic char' whenever he get bully or whenever he need help. In his belly pocket, there are always tons of gadgets that bring fun and joy to kids. I always fantasize how good it will be if i have Doremon.
I also like to introduce my friend website http://custom-workz.blogspot.com/
Do check it out. He's the owner of a custom workz. He has a range of toys available and also provide modelling clasees for the figurines and toys. He has more than 10 years + experience in this.
I met him rather incidently when i was accompanying my friend to Goldmile to repair his X-Box 360. It must be of heaven's will we met. It has been so long since we met (Back in Poly Days) When i see him, you can see the passion and fire in his eyes as he speak of the toys and figurines he does.
He's a perfect example of 1 of the entreprener i know that go for his passion.

Dinosaurs appear live in Plaza Singapora

Today i stop by Plaza Singapura to meet my friend. While waiting, guess what i see, Dinosaurs appearing live and moving. This is a exhibition to show case dinosaurs and educating kids and children about the history of dinosaurs. It brought back childhood memories of me back when i was in primary school when i buy stickers to collect and paste on the dinosaurs book. Back then stickers and book of various types are the in things, we would often struggle with tiny bitty bit of pocket money we had to save to buy stickers. Note that the stickers do not always come differently. You need to collect and trade among your friends to complete. After completion send in the booklet in order to win prizes. You could say that i was gullible or naive, thinking i could win perhaps a Nintendo, cd player etc....(at that time)
That format of marketing and packaging could have rake in thousands of dollars for that business.
Come to think of it, what type of business are there in the market that only utilise your small amount of money (almost neglicible) but promises big prices in the end. I could think of a few (eg. like toto, 4D, online gaming (ign items, stickers, celebrity cards, sms celebrities, vote your favourite artists, etc...) Give it a thought and who knows you might be the next millionaire in the making

Dumpling Festival

Dragon Boat : I took this picture at Bugis Central. This is a makeshift stature. It looks very majestic. Do go to Bugis Central to have a look. Also enjoy the dumplings festival.

Some of the highlights at the show, to my left image is the dawn of war character. Cool isn't it. Now i wonder which company do this, this is quite a good size model they created. Gaming industry is set to be a multi-billion dollars industy. You see the figurines, video, gaming, card games. So many stuff link to it. Alot of spinoffs from games that captivate so many millions of people

Today i went to Suntec City with my friend, he went to take a look at the cars while i take a look at the gaming show at the 3rd storey. Warcraft gaming cards, so many players are playing. I personally like warcraft alot. Last time used to play dota with my friends. Home business harnessing power of the internet

1 of my friend's friend, he start up a internet business online. He has been onto it for 2 years +. He sell stuff online which he bought it from overseas. Quite a good concept. He trade stuff http://ws74erhol.blogspot.com/. You can check out his website. This is 1 example of you need not have any physical store but you can have your ownline business. No overheads no rental and best of all, his business is by word of mouth. 1 type of passive income

Juggling work life balance

What do i mean by that? Constantly everyday we are juggling be it in our work, relationship, friendship. Have you ever think about it that we are constantly juggling everyday to have a balance to our work, relationship and friendship.

Just today i was having a discussion with my friend when he was having a phone call with his wife chitchatting about the school and stuff as there are some decisions that need to make together.

This is no wonder that People working in Singapore (can really multi-task very well). We are like jugglers in this island. Constantly switching to work / relationship / friendship mode. Priorities in these 3 modes constantly change especially in this economic situation. So to my fellow friends, we got to strive for passive income. With constant passive income in place. Our priorities in 3 modes will change to 2 modes where we would have better juggling with only 50 / 50 .

stock seminar

Recently not long ago that was like just last week 15th May. I went to attend a stock investment seminar by the company of T3B system. I went there with an open mind and was also keen to explore ways to make my " Hard Earned $$ work harder " in these hard and uncertain times.

To share some information, their website is www.t3bsystem.com . The founder of the company is Keane Lee who has the sole proprietary T3B System that has help numerous people to earn some $$ in stock especially during recession times.

Some of the lessons in stock trading they shared in the seminar is really very true. Like not cutting your losses when the share price drop beyond the 7-8 % of the initial share price that you buy. Another tip that they share is on before any stock goes up or down, there would be a certain period of time (range from 3-15months) where the shares would be accumulated at a certain price range, if you are unlucky to buy the share price at that range, most probably your $$ would be stuck for that period of time without any gain. Another tip they share would be to look at trends whether the stock is on a accumulation graph, uptrend graph or downtrend graph, of course this looking at trends are their sole proprietary knowledge which you have to pay course fees to attend the course as well as a subscription fee for maintaining the technical portal that provide these information.

More information could be found at their website. For those people who are interested in stocks and shares. This could open up your perspective and who knows you might find some tips to fine tune your stock trading strategy.

Sleep & Get Rich!

Recently i just completed reading a book. The book title is Sleep & Get Rich! It features Top 10 Passive Income Earners that have their stories narrated inside and provide a insight to the aspiring normal Singaporeans like you and me. We normal Singaporeans too can make it.

Many credits should be awarded to this author Pearlin Siow. She did a fantastic job in narrating this book. Her blog is http://www.bossofmesingapore.blogspot.com/ where you can find information regarding passive income.

This book also provide me some insights and where i started my blogging yesterday 17th May 2009. Hopefully this is 1 step towards my earning of passive income.

One of the characteristic that is very similar in the 10 passive income earners are they are VERY VERY PASSIONATE. Yeah that's right. Passion and Fire in their souls that provide fuel and mental strength to them when things are not going smoothly.

Passion and Fire is one of key towards success.

Library (a place where alot of resources)

I just borrowed 4 books from National Library. In case that that anyone of you guys don't know where it is. National Library is located opposite Bugis Junction very near to the central of Singapore. It is a great place for de-stressed, relax with a favourite book and not to discount the fact that the couches are very comfortable.

If you want to study, it is a great place as you know that library is very quiet. (Though the library is a very 'HOT' place) A lot of people will go there especially during weekends to chill and relax. If you want to know whether your favourite book whether or not is avaliable, you can always check out the http://www.nlb.gov.sg/ (online resources for information).

They have information on the books status on all the public libraries in Singapore. I recommend going to library for everyone. You can read newspapers, magazines, books, not to mention those books that are so expensive in the market where you could recommend library to buy. This is a free and good deal to anyone living in Singapore.
